Supervises, inspects and performs maintenance on aircraft powertrain systems.
Removes and replaces powertrain quills, transmissions adapting parts, rotary wing hub and tanks; disassemble friction dampers and hanger assemblies; disassemble, repair, reassembles, adjusts, balances and aligns powertrain components, systems and subsystems to include main and tail rotor hub assemblies according to directives; apply corrosion preventative procedures; clean, preserve and store powertrain components; perform nondestructive inspections on aircraft components and related items; uses and performs operator maintenance on ground support equipment, common and special tools; maintain facilities for storage of flammable and hazardous materials; requisitions and maintains shop and bench stock for repair of aircraft powertrain systems and subsystems; prepares request for turn ins and repair parts for powertrain components; prepare forms and records related to aircraft maintenance; performs duties described in paragraph (1) and provides technical guidance to subordinate personnel; diagnoses and troubleshoots malfunctions in aircraft powertrain components and their subcomponents; participate in maintenance test flights as required; supervises and provides technical guidance to subordinate personnel performing aircraft powertrain system maintenance and nondestructive inspection; evaluate maintenance operations and facilities for compliance with directives, technical manuals, work standards, safety procedures and operational policies; performs maintenance trend analysis and applies production control, quality control and other maintenance management principles and procedures to aircraft powertrain system maintenance, nondestructive inspection and shop operations; instructs personnel and conducts technical training in aircraft powertrain system maintenance, nondestructive inspection, supply and safety techniques; evaluate the technical training program; monitors requisition of parts, tools, and supplies.
The aircraft maintenance senior sergeant supervises aviation unit maintenance (AVUM), intermediate (AVIM), and depot maintenance in activities having a mix of aircraft maintenance and/or component repair MOS; prepares studies, evaluations, special reports, and records pertaining to aircraft maintenance, component repair, and related activities; plans aircraft maintenance areas, components repair shops, and facilities; apply production control, quality control and other maintenance management principles and procedures to aircraft maintenance and shop operations; supervise the verification and validation of technical manuals, training devices and contractor furnished training material pertaining to new aircraft and/or component fielding; supervise research and development projects in aviation and related areas; assist in the development of maintenance procedures for prototype aircraft and components; supervise the development and instruction of training programs; recommend and establish plans, policies, and procedures for aircraft maintenance operations; maintains supply economy and discipline; provides advice and makes recommendations to the commander and staff on all matters pertaining to enlisted soldiers and their families; accompanies the commander on inspections, visits and ceremonies; assists in inspection of command activities, facilities and personnel as prescribed by the commander; ensures adherence to command policies; holds first sergeants' or sergeants' major call to announce information and instruction; ensures that newly assigned enlisted personnel are instructed in military courtesy, customs of the service and command regulations or policies; responsible for monitoring training or conducts training of enlisted soldiers; assesses training at all levels and provides feedback to appropriate commanders and leaders; provides counsel and guidance to NCOs and other enlisted soldiers of the command; responsible for and provides guidance on Non-Commissioned Officer Education System (NCOES) and Non-Commissioned Officer Development Program (NCODP); inspects duties performed by subordinate NCOs; notes discrepancies and initiates appropriate corrective action; assists in reception of visitors to the command; serves as president or member of command promotion board or removal board for NCOs, as authorized by regulations; sits as chairperson or member of a command's Military Member of the Quarter/Year competition for enlisted soldiers or NCOs, as directed by local regulations; responsible for quality, control and training of noncommissioned officer evaluation reports (NCOER) while ensuring timely submissions; reviews evaluation reports to determine compliance with policies and procedures and recommends corrective actions on deficiencies to commanders, other leaders and rating officials; performs other duties prescribed by the commander; assists in the professional development of junior and company grade officers.
The aircraft components repair supervisor supervises aviation unit, intermediate and depot maintenance on aircraft components, aviation communications and other electronic/ electrical systems associated with Army aircraft; the individual must be knowledgeable of the duties performed by personnel in MOS 15B, 15D, 15F, 15G, 15H and 15N; other major duties for MOS 15K are; supervises aircraft component and avionics repair and technical inspection activities; determine man-hours, personnel, parts and facility requirements to repair aircraft components, avionics and associated equipment; plans aircraft maintenance areas, component and avionics repair shops and facilities; instructs subordinates in aircraft component and avionics repair and technical inspection techniques and procedures according to directives, technical manuals, work standards and operational policies; maintains supply economy and discipline; supervises the component and avionics repair technical training program; prepares evaluations, special reports and records pertaining to aircraft component repair and related activities; recommends and administers plans and policies; the aircraft maintenance senior sergeant supervises aviation unit maintenance (AVUM), intermediate (AVIM), and depot maintenance in activities having a mix of aircraft maintenance and/or component repair MOS; prepares studies, evaluations, special reports, and records pertaining to aircraft maintenance, component repair, and related activities; plans aircraft maintenance areas, components repair shops, and facilities; apply production control, quality control and other maintenance management principles and procedures to aircraft maintenance and shop operations; supervise the verification and validation of technical manuals, training devices and contractor furnished training material pertaining to new aircraft and/or component fielding; supervise research and development projects in aviation and related areas; assist in the development of maintenance procedures for prototype aircraft and components; supervise the development and instruction of training programs; recommend and establish plans, policies, and procedures for aircraft maintenance operations; maintains supply economy and discipline.
