Supervise and provide ATC services.
Plans, organizes and manages ATC facilities; serves as chief instructor in the ATC School; serve as ATC operations NCO in ATC Battalion, Brigade, ATC School and as senior staff NCO at Brigade level or higher; provides advice and makes recommendations to the commander and staff on all matters pertaining to enlisted soldiers and their families; accompanies the commander on inspections, visits and ceremonies; assists in inspection of command activities, facilities and personnel as prescribed by the commander; ensures adherence to command policies; holds first sergeants' or sergeants' major call to announce information and instruction; ensures that newly assigned enlisted personnel are instructed in military courtesy, customs of the service and command regulations or policies; responsible for monitoring training or conducts training of enlisted soldiers; assesses training at all levels and provides feedback to appropriate commanders and leaders; provides counsel and guidance to NCOs and other enlisted soldiers of the command; responsible for and provides guidance on Non-Commissioned Officer Education System (NCOES) and Non-Commissioned Officer Development Program (NCODP); inspects duties performed by subordinate NCOs; notes discrepancies and initiates appropriate corrective action; assists in reception of visitors to the command; serves as president or member of command promotion board or removal board for NCOs, as authorized by regulations; sits as chairperson or member of a command's Military Member of the Quarter/Year competition for enlisted soldiers or NCOs, as directed by local regulations; responsible for quality, control and training of noncommissioned officer evaluation reports (NCOER) while ensuring timely submissions; reviews evaluation reports to determine compliance with policies and procedures and recommends corrective actions on deficiencies to commanders, other leaders and rating officials; performs other duties prescribed by the commander; assists in the professional development of junior and company grade officers.
Operates fixed and tactical ATC towers, radars, and flight following facilities; assists in the installation, and relocation of tactical ATC facilities; operates tactical navigation aids (NAVAIDs); applies air traffic control rules, procedures, and regulations; processes flight plan data; formulates and issues ATC clearances, advisories, and control information; maintains logs, records, files, and tape recordings of voice communications; interprets and relays notice to airmen (NOTAM) information; reads and interprets DOD Flight Information Publications (FLIPS) and aeronautical charts; analyzes air traffic to identify and resolve potential conflicts; controls airborne and ground traffic on and in the vicinity of the airport; updates Automated Terminal Information Systems (ATIS) and performs radar scope alignment; coordinates terminal/enroute control; provides non-radar approach control, ground controlled approach, enroute flight flowing, and tower services; conducts ATC facility and OJT training; briefs shift personnel on runway utilization, airfield conditions and weather/ground activities; prepares and updates flight following maps; supervises the operation of flight following facilities; supervises a shift in a tactical ATC Tower, radar, or flight following facility; serves as Facility Chief at low density towers, radar or flight following facilities; administers ATC facility; formulates and coordinates letters of agreement, operations letters, and facility memorandums; prepares duty rosters, and assigns duties to personnel; ensures facility flight check requirements are met for navigational aids, radar, and radio communications equipment; plans and organizes ATC activities for tower, radar, and flight following activities and verifies facility compliance with Army and FAA standards; evaluates ATC operations and work performance; reviews and prepares reports; assists in the preparation of Standard Instrument Approach/Enroute/Departure Procedures (TERPS) Prepares and updates situation maps; assist in the preparation of Standard Instrument Approach/Enroute/Departure Procedures (TERPS) for assigned facility/NAVAID.
Serve as facility chief in high density and designated remotely located fixed base towers, GCA radar, or AICs; plans, organizes and supervises ATC facilities; establishes and supervises the facility training and rating program; advise in the preparation of TERPS; ensure proper utilization and coordination of maintenance support; prepares and interprets orders and reports; as an A2C2 liaison at division and echelons above corps (EAC) assists in the development and execution of the Airspace Control Order (ACO) and Airspace Tasking Order (ATO; coordinates, deconflicts and integrates all airspace control measures for division, corps, or EAC commanders; as a platoon sergeant, coordinates the logistical, personnel and administrative support for all platoon elements and deploys platoon to remote locations in support of forward aviation assets; prepares and coordinates TERPS data with the appropriate FAA Department of the Army regional representative; conduct briefings for senior commanders on the current tactical airspace situation; plans, organizes and manages ATC facilities; serves as chief instructor in the ATC School; serve as ATC operations NCO in ATC Battalion, Brigade, ATC School and as senior staff NCO at Brigade level or higher.
