Performs direct and general support maintenance on the NIKE High Power Acquisition Radar (HIPAR) and Radar Target Simulator.
Supervises and coordinates support level maintenance of the Improved NIKEHERCULES Guided Missile System to include the Missile, Launcher Control, Launcher and associated equipment, radars (LOPAR, HIPAR, TTR, TRR, AND MTR), Director-Station Group, Tracking Station Group; radar Target Simulator (Shops 1, 2, and 3), and other systems associated items and test equipment; serves as section chief or principal noncommissioned officer of a platoon performing missile system support maintenance; assists in development and supervises quality assurance/quality control program; serves as principal NCO in unit at battalion level or higher performing DS/GS maintenance on the NIKE missile system; serves as First Sergeant of a company; performs duties associated with SQI M; serves as chief instructor in a training facility, chief adviser to a Reserve Component unit, or chief adviser to a foreign military unit.
Performs support level maintenance on the NIKE HIPAR, Radar Target Simulator, HIPAR Emergency Contact Unit, and associated test equipment items; inspects, tests, adjusts components to specific tolerances and determines shortcomings and mal functions in electronic, electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and heat transfer assemblies, modules, and circuit elements using common and system special design test equipment; repairs unserviceable items by removing and replacing defective components and parts; determines serviceability and disposition of defective assemblies, subassemblies, and parts; performs quality control measures in accordance with established quality assurance program; performs alignment, C level calibration, and repair as authorized on job related equipment; serves on inspection teams; installs equipment modifications, provides technical assistance to supported units; completes maintenance and supply forms; establishes workloads and repair priorities; recommends procedures for receipt, storage, inspection, testing, and repair of items; implements quality control measures; performs initial and final type checkout and inspection of designated system items and their assemblies and subassemblies; supervises inspection and maintenance teams; conducts on-the-job training programs; corrects faulty work practices by demonstrating proper repair techniques; keeps maintenance records.
Performs duties shown in preceding level skill; serves as principal NCO in unit at battalion level or higher performing DS/GS maintenance on the NIKE missile system; serves as First Sergeant of a company; performs duties associated with SQI M; serves as chief instructor in a training facility, chief adviser to a Reserve Component unit, or chief adviser to a foreign military unit; provides advice and makes, recommendations to the commander aid staff on all matters pertain to enlisted personnel and their families; accompanies the commander on inspections and visits and at ceremonies; assists in inspection of command activities facilities aid personnel as prescribed by the commander; holds first sergeants' or sergeants' major call to announce information and instructions; insures that newly assigned enlisted personnel are instructed in military courtesy, customs, of the service, and command regulations or policies; provides counsel and guidance to NCOs and other enlisted personnel of the command; inspects duties performed by subordinate NCOs; notes discrepancies and initiates appropriate corrective action; assists in reception of visitors to the command; sits as president or, member of command promotion board for NCOs, as authorized by regulations; performs other duties prescribed by, the commander.
