Establishes and operates water supply points to provide pure potable water in designated areas.
Must be qualified as Water Supply Specialist (51N20); must know procedures and techniques for testing raw water for CBR and other contaminations; must be able to determine volume of water at water source; must be able to read military maps; must be able to prescribe pertinent water treatment processes for special requirements; must be able to compute amounts of treatment chemicals required by formula method; must be able to utilize existing water systems, including developed wells and municipal production and distribution systems; must be able to coordinate operation of several water supply points; must be able to read water supply directives and manuals and reduce technical terminology to form understandable by subordinates; must be able to plan and execute installation of several water supply points, compute probable amounts of chemicals and equipment needed for definite water requirements, and length of operation; must be able to estimate number of water points required to supply water requirements of an army in the field; must be able to analyze reports from water points to determine efficiency of operation and probable areas of difficulty; must be able to estimate amount of transportation required and feasible lines of supply, taking into consideration water sources, trafficability of routes, and deployment of supported units; must be qualified as Water Supply Specialist (51N40); must know technical mission, responsibilities, and operations of water supply company or unit to which assigned; must know techniques and tactics pertaining to unit defense; must know military subjects including drill and parade formations, field sanitation, field mess operations, selection of bivouac areas, and use of unit weapons; must know Army clerical personnel, and administrative procedures, regulations, and directives applicable to company operations; must know format of Army correspondence, format of company orders, preparation of morning report, maintenance of duty rosters, and regulations governing mail service at company; must know fundamentals of requisitioning and storage of rations, preparation and serving of food, and care of mess equipment to assure that unit mess meets prescribed standards; must be able to read and utilize TOE, TDA, and supply manuals.
Must know procedures and techniques of water purification water purification and distillation equipment operation; must know principles and techniques of cover, concealment, and camouflage; must know meaning of terms used in water purification and distillation; must know use of pioneer tools; must know CBR decontamination techniques for water supplies and equipment; must know principles of pump operation; must know methods of developing water sources; must be able to prepare water reconnaissance reports; must be able to perform organizational maintenance of engines and pumps, and field maintenance of filters, automatic hypochlorinators, and distillation equipment.
Must be qualified as Water Supply Specialist (51N40); must know technical mission, responsibilities, and operations of water supply company or unit to which assigned; must know techniques and tactics pertaining to unit defense; must know military subjects including drill and parade formations, field sanitation, field mess operations, selection of bivouac areas, and use of unit weapons; must know Army clerical personnel, and administrative procedures, regulations, and directives applicable to company operations; must know format of Army correspondence, format of company orders, preparation of morning report, maintenance of duty rosters, and regulations governing mail service at company; must know fundamentals of requisitioning and storage of rations, preparation and serving of food, and care of mess equipment to assure that unit mess meets prescribed standards; must be able to read and utilize TOE, TDA, and supply manuals; provides advice and makes, recommendations to the commander aid staff on all matters pertain to enlisted personnel and their families; accompanies the commander on inspections and visits and at ceremonies; assists in inspection of command activities facilities aid personnel as prescribed by the commander; holds First Sergeants' or Sergeants' Major call to announce information and instructions; insures that newly assigned enlisted personnel are instructed in military courtesy, customs, of the service, and command regulations or policies; provides counsel and guidance to NCOs and other enlisted personnel of the command; inspects duties performed by subordinate NCOs; notes discrepancies and initiates appropriate corrective action; assists in reception of visitors to the command; sits as president or, member of command promotion board for NCOs, as authorized by regulations; performs other duties prescribed by, the commander.
