Performs maintenance on telecommunications computer systems.
Supervises and manages personnel performing operations and maintenance of computerized information management systems and associated equipment; develops and enforces policy and procedures for facility and network management; determines capabilities and limitations of assigned equipment; organizes work schedules and instructs subordinate personnel in the technical maintenance of computers used in Signal support operations; writes unit or station standing operating procedures (SOP); arranges higher level or contractor support maintenance for assigned equipment; assists and trains operators on teams and shifts; information systems chief supervises, plans coordinates and directs the employment, operation, management, and unit level maintenance of multi-functional/multi-user information processing systems in mobile and fixed facilities; provides technical and tactical advice to command and staff concerning all aspects of information processing system operations, maintenance, and logistical support; supervises installation, operation, strapping, restrapping, PMCS and unit level maintenance on COMSEC devices; conducts briefings on the status, relationship, and interface of information processing systems within assigned area of interest; supervises or prepares technical studies, evaluations, reports, correspondence, and records pertaining to multi-functional/multi-user information processing systems; plans, organizes, and conducts technical inspections; supervises development of the information systems plans (ISP), information management plan (IMP), and information management master plan; reviews, consolidates, and forwards final written input for the continuity of operations plan; develops and enforces policy and procedures for facility operations and management. Enforces information security (INFOSEC), operations security (OPSEC), and physical security per regulations and policies; prepares or supervises the preparation of technical studies, evaluations, reports, correspondence, software programs, program editing, debugging, and associated functions; and maintains records pertaining to information system operations; briefs staff and operations personnel on information systems matters.
Performs fault isolation, diagnoses malfunctions and restores or repairs telecommunications computer systems, automatic message switches and peripheral equipment, and ensures emission security standards are met; provides technical advice and assistance to other equipment operators regarding system initialization, application principles, capabilities, limitations, interfaces, procedures, and protocol troubleshooting; installs, operates, performs strapping, restrapping, PMCS and unit level maintenance on COMSEC devices; collects and documents appropriate statistics for logistical and operational reports; maintenance Checks and Services (PMCS) on assigned communications equipment, vehicles, generators, organic tools, and test, measurement, and diagnostic equipment (TMDE); provides technical assistance to subordinates on complex direct support maintenance tasks or computer operations; ensures on-site bench stock and repair parts are available to support telecommunications facilities equipment and ancillary devices and that National Security Agency (NSA) directives are complied with when performing strapping and unit level COMSEC repairs; coordinates communications interface requirements to ensure network access and continuity; supervises and assists subordinate personnel in the performance of unit level maintenance and PMCS of assigned communications equipment, vehicles, power generators and TMDE; supervises and prepares work schedules for subordinate personnel engaged in the performance of operations and maintenance of telecommunications computer systems, automatic message switches, and peripheral equipment; plans and implements communications interfaces with military, host nation, and commercial activities; develops and administers on- site training programs; requests logistical support and coordinates system integration; supervises and performs maintenance management and administrative duties related to facility operations, security, maintenance, communications, and personnel; supervises PMCS on assigned vehicles, power generators, and TMDE.

Enforces information security (INFOSEC), operations security (OPSEC), and physical security per regulations and policies; prepares or supervises the preparation of technical studies, evaluations, reports, correspondence, software programs, program editing, debugging, and associated functions; and maintains records pertaining to information system operations; briefs staff and operations personnel on information systems matters; provides advice and makes recommendations to the commander and staff on all matters pertaining to enlisted soldiers and their families; accompanies the commander on inspections, visits and ceremonies; assists in inspection of command activities, facilities and personnel as prescribed by the commander; ensures adherence to command policies; holds First Sergeants' or Sergeants' Major call to announce information and instruction; ensures that newly assigned enlisted personnel are instructed in military courtesy, customs of the service and command regulations or policies; responsible for monitoring training or conducts training of enlisted soldiers; assesses training at all levels and provides feedback to appropriate commanders and leaders; provides counsel and guidance to NCOs and other enlisted soldiers of the command; responsible for and provides guidance on Non-Commissioned Officer Education System (NCOES) and Non-Commissioned Officer Development Program (NCODP); inspects duties performed by subordinate NCOs; notes discrepancies and initiates appropriate corrective action; assists in reception of visitors to the command; serves as president or member of command promotion board or removal board for NCOs, as authorized by regulations; sits as chairperson or member of a command's Military Member of the Quarter/Year competition for enlisted soldiers or NCOs, as directed by local regulations; responsible for quality, control and training of noncommissioned officer evaluation reports (NCOER) while ensuring timely submissions; reviews evaluation reports to determine compliance with policies and procedures and recommends corrective actions on deficiencies to commanders, other leaders and rating officials; performs other duties prescribed by the commander; assists in the professional development of junior and company grade officer.
