Perform and supervise detection, acquisition, location, identification, exploitation and reporting of foreign ELINT at division, corps and echelon above corps.
The SIGINT Sr SGT serves as staff NCO for major commands engaged in Signals intelligence/electronic warfare (SIGINT/EW) operations and combat development, or training; supervises SIGINT/EW activities and provides technical, operational and administrative guidance and direction to enlisted soldiers at division, Corps and echelon above Corps; reviews, evaluates, prepares and executes SIGINT/EW deployment, employment and redeployment plans and orders; interprets intelligence requirements for translation into SIGINT/EW tasking; reviews SIGINT/EW doctrinal publications and prepares recommended changes; compares modification table of organization and equipment (MTOE) and table of distribution and allowances (TDA) authorization documents with SIGINT/EW missions and functions and recommends revisions; provides advice and makes recommendations to the commander and staff on all matters pertaining to enlisted soldiers and their families; accompanies the commander on inspections, visits and ceremonies; assists in inspection of command activities, facilities and personnel as prescribed by the commander; ensures adherence to command policies; holds First Sergeants' or Sergeants' Major call to announce information and instruction; ensures that newly assigned enlisted personnel are instructed in military courtesy, customs of the service and command regulations or policies; responsible for monitoring training or conducts training of enlisted soldiers; assesses training at all levels and provides feedback to appropriate commanders and leaders; provides counsel and guidance to NCOs and other enlisted soldiers of the command; responsible for and provides guidance on Non-Commissioned Officer Education System (NCOES) and Non-Commissioned Officer Development Program (NCODP); inspects duties performed by subordinate NCOs; notes discrepancies and initiates appropriate corrective action; assists in reception of visitors to the command; serves as president or member of command promotion board or removal board for NCOs, as authorized by regulations; sits as chairperson or member of a command's Military Member of the Quarter/Year competition for enlisted soldiers or NCOs, as directed by local regulations; responsible for quality, control and training of noncommissioned officer evaluation reports (NCOER) while ensuring timely submissions; reviews evaluation reports to determine compliance with policies and procedures and recommends corrective actions on deficiencies to commanders, other leaders and rating officials; performs other duties prescribed by the commander; assists in the professional development of junior and company grade officer.
Deploy, install, and operate ELINT collection systems; search for selected categories or classes of electro-optic or foreign instrumentation signals; operates communications equipment for SIGINT reporting and coordination; use technical references and equipment to record and analyze intercepted signals; use specialized data base and technical references to identify intercepted signals; reports electronic order of battle information and maintain a technical data base; supervise team level ELINT signals collection and operates intercept, recording and analysis equipment; recommend employment of units and establishes operational sites; assist in fusion product reporting; prepare and maintain EOB information; interpret and analyze technical documents and reports; assign missions and intercepts complex signals; implement SIGINT/EW emergency action plans.
Performs duties shown in preceding skill level and provides guidance to subordinate soldiers; supervises ELINT intercept and analysis activities at platoon level; interprets and implements ELINT collection tasking; identifies and allocates resources sources to accomplish the collection effort; coordinates collection activities with other intelligence disciplines; determines mission objectives and priorities; supervises immediate subordinates in SIGINT operations and command intelligence procedures; coordinates tactical and strategic ELINT and provides appraisals of intelligence products, activities and operations; develops unit intelligence training strategy.
