Performs direct support, general support and depot level maintenance on strategic communications systems radio, multiplex and associated ancillary equipment; installs, inspects, tests, services, adjusts, aligns, calibrates, and repairs strategic communications systems radio, multiplex and ancillary equipment; performs preventive maintenance and nonscheduled corrective maintenance on microwave and troposcatter transmitter and receiver equipment, fixed station carrier and multiplex equipment, and associated communications security devices; maintains and repairs AC/DC power supplies, patch panels, jack assemblies, rectifiers and DC battery plants; performs operator functions on AC power generators; prepares periodic and special propagation production charts and data; utilizes oscilloscopes, signal generators, frequency counters, power meters and special test equipment when maintaining and repairing strategic communications systems radio, multiplex and associated ancillary equipment; complies with regulations concerning transmission security and uses electronic countermeasure terms and definitions; analyzes operation of electronic time division and pulse code modulation equipment of facilitate troubleshooting and repair; performs malfunction diagnostic procedures when troubleshooting equipment; localizes C9 malfunctions, determines causes and replaces defective parts or components; tests and tunes strategic communications system equipment; adjust magic Tees, diplexers and duplexers in the maintenance and repair of microwave and troposcatter radio equipment; aligns high power amplifiers, parametric amplifiers and receivers positions and assembles new and replacement equipment, erects and orients antenna on contingency systems; interconnects components and power units; starts and adjusts power units to ensure delivery of power at prescribed readings; checks and adjusts carrier and multiplex equipment to maintain efficiency of circuits and to ensure proper functioning of equipment; performs maintenance tasks utilizing applicable and appropriate publications and standards; employs hand tools and test equipment to perform the required duties; performs direct support, general support and depot level maintenance on strategic communications systems radio, multiplex and associated ancillary equipment; trains complex concepts, instructs and demonstrates correct maintenance procedures utilizing special hand tools and test equipment; localizes malfunctions, determines causes of malfunctions and the extent of repairs or replacement of parts required and fabricates simple parts not requiring precision tooling; maintains hand tools, testing devices and test equipment in proper operating condition; interprets tele-communications; service Orders to activate, change and deactivate circuits, to include pre-activation, testing, reporting and recording; stocks and requisitions repair parts; supervises the performance of direct support, general support and depot level maintenance on strategic communications systems radio, multiplex, and associated ancillary equipment; advises superiors and subordinates on maintenance problems; prepares and maintains equipment maintenance records in accordance with applicable publications and accepted procedures; establishes liaison with supported and supporting activities; advises superiors of equipment maintenance situations; provides guidance to subordinates regarding maintenance schedules; coordinates maintenance problems, schedules and hazardous conditions with defense communications technical control facilities; exercises technical direction, coordination, and supervision over the activation, deactivation and management of transmission links, super groups, groups, and channels in accordance with appropriate directives; prepares and maintains records pertaining to prescribed load lists and authorized stockage lists.
