Performs technical inspections on aircraft armament systems.
Plans, directs, and supervises technical inspection activities; evaluates technical training programs; prepares evaluation reports on subordinate personnel; performs maintenance trend analysis; checks maintenance/supply documents to insure compliance with product quality control standards and the Army Maintenance Management System (TAMMS); provides technical guidance training to repairers on proper maintenance techniques and safety procedures; checks airplane flight and maintenance records to determine adherence to prescribed maintenance standards; maintains technical library; inspects systems, subsystems, and components according to applicable technical publications and checklists before, during and after airplane maintenance or modifications; performs operational checks and troubleshoots airplane systems to isolate malfunctions; participates in maintenance test flights; annotates records of required maintenance; evaluates operational readiness of aircraft armament systems and recommends corrective action; inspects armament systems, subsystems, and components to determine serviceability; inspects system peculiar test sets and diagnostic equipment according to applicable publications; insures compliance with aircraft configuration control, and test measuring and diagnostic calibration according to technical manuals, directives, and safety procedures and standards.
Supervises aviation unit (AVUM), intermediate (AVIM) and depot maintenance on utility and observation airplanes; supervises and participates in preparation of studies, evaluations, special reports, and records pertaining to aircraft maintenance and components repair operations, training, and related activities; plans and lays out aircraft maintenance areas and component repair shops and facilities; advises in diagnosing complex malfunctions and assists in determining maintenance requirements; supervises the preparation of work orders, recurring reports, and correspondence; applies production, quality control, and other maintenance management principles and procedures; processes work orders and allocates maintenance responsibilities; recommends such action as reassignment of duties and requirements for training to improve work performance; coordinates work, assigns duties, and instructs subordinates in maintenance work techniques and procedures; insures that proper maintenance techniques have been employed by use of quality assurance inspections; enforces shop safety principles and procedures to include storage requirements for POL, paint, and other volatile materials; assists in preparation of plans, policies, and procedures for maintenance operations; maintains supply economy and discipline.
