Supervises or participates in receipt, storage, care, preservation, distribution, and issue of bulk and packaged petroleum products.

Must be able to perform the duties of Petroleum Storage Specialist (76W40) or Petroleum Laboratory Specialist (92C40); serves as principal noncommissioned officer of petroleum battalion, brigade, or group engaged in storage, distribution, and issue of Class III supplies; assists in planning, coordination, and supervision of petroleum storage and distribution operations; assists command and staff officers in appraisals of petroleum operations and training activities; collects, prepares, and distributes material and data pertaining to petroleum operations and training; supervises and inspects duties performed by subordinate noncommissioned officers of the unit; serves as First Sergeant of a company; interprets and supervises execution of company policy and SOP; assists in planning, coordinating, and supervising all activities that support the company mission; advises company commander on all matters concerning enlisted personnel, to include assignments, reassignments, transfers, promotions, granting of passes and leave, punishments, welfare, privileges, and awards; directs and coordinates company administration; forms unit for drill, ceremonies, and other military formations; receives report of personnel present and absent, and reports numbers of unauthorized absences; holds NCO call to disseminate instructions and information to subordinate enlisted supervisors; coordinates operation of company food service and supply activities; assists company commander in accomplishing unit training; assists in inspection of organizational activities as prescribed by commander, observes discrepancies, and initiates appropriate corrective action; provides advice and makes, recommendations to the commander aid staff on all matters pertain to enlisted personnel and their families; accompanies the commander on inspections and visits and at ceremonies; assists in inspection of command activities facilities aid personnel as prescribed by the commander; holds First Sergeants' or Sergeants' Major call to announce information and instructions; insures that newly assigned enlisted personnel are instructed in military courtesy, customs, of the service, and command regulations or policies; provides counsel and guidance to NCOs and other enlisted personnel of the command; inspects duties performed by subordinate NCOs; notes discrepancies and initiates appropriate corrective action; assists in reception of visitors to the command; sits as president or, member of command promotion board for NCOs, as authorized by regulations; performs other duties prescribed by, the commander.

Operates and maintains petroleum storage and dispensing facilities; classifies, reclaims, cleans, and fills petroleum containers; maintains pipeline systems, pressure reducing stations, dispensing equipment, including booster, transfer, and mainline pumps; performs bulk storage operations and maintenance procedures for tank farm distribution, transfer, and manifold systems; applies firefighting and fire prevention techniques; inspects pipeline systems; reports leaks, pilferage, or sabotage; operates multiproduct pipeline systems; locates, verifies, and separates pipeline interfaces; makes visual inspection of outgoing products to insure proper quantities, packaging, and markings, and to detect contamination or deterioration; gages storage tanks; makes temperature and volume conversions to account for and inventory petroleum products; inspects, inventories, classifies, and segregates packaged petroleum products; takes samples of bulk and packaged products for laboratory examination; loads and unloads tank cars and trucks; operates portable equipment to discharge tankers and barges; cleans tank cars, tank trucks, and storage tanks; performs petroleum stock control system duties.
