Must be able to perform the duties of Cartographic Draftsman, 81C40; serves as Topographic Operations Sergeant; plans, coordinates and supervises activities pertaining to organization, training, and tactical and technical operations of unit to which assigned; employs directives, manuals and regulations to locate specific policies and procedures; serves as First Sergeant of a company; interprets and supervises execution of company policy and SOP; assists in planning, coordinating and supervising all activities that support the company mission; advises company commander on all matters concerning enlisted personnel, to include assignments, reassignments, transfers, promotions, granting of passes and leave, punishments, welfare, privileges, and awards; directs and coordinates company administration; forms unit for drill, ceremonies, and other military formations; receives report of personnel present and absent, and reports number of unauthorized absences; holds NCO call to disseminate instructions and information to subordinate enlisted supervisors; coordinates operation of company food service and supply activities; assists company commander in accomplishing unit training; assists in inspection of organizational activities as prescribed by commander, observes discrepancies, and initiates appropriate corrective action; at 00Z, must be able to perform the duties of at least one MOS at skill level 5; advises commander and staff on matters pertinent to troop welfare and morale in terms of assignment, reassignment, utilization, promotion, privileges, discipline, training, operations, and logistics; accompanies commander on inspections, visits, and at ceremonies; assists in inspection of command activities, facilities, and personnel as prescribed by commander; holds First Sergeants' or Sergeants' Major call to disseminate information and instruction; insures that newly assigned enlisted personnel are instructed in military courtesy, customs of the service, and in command regulations or policies; provides counsel and guidance to noncommissioned officers and other enlisted personnel of the command; inspects duties performed by subordinate noncommissioned officers; makes notes of observed discrepancies and initiates appropriate corrective action in name of commander; assists in reception of visitors to the command; sits as member of command promotion board for senior noncommissioned officers, where authorized by pertinent regulations; performs those additional duties prescribed by the commander.
Draws general drafting details; copies or traces drawings, charts, posters and other art or drafting work as directed with pen, ink, pencil or crayon and such equipment as mimeoscope, T-squares, protractors, triangles, dividers and rules; studies work orders, sketches, notes, models, schematic drawings, elementary blueprints, photographs, charts and graphs, and lays out various details to scale; prepares graphic sections of organizational charts, statistical reports, and visual training aids; letters material by freehand or mechanical means with letter templates; compiles and enters information, such as dimensions, specifications, and legends on appropriate section of drawings; assists map compilers and model makers; employs stereoscope in reading aerial maps; employs conventional symbols, shading and profiles to represent mechanical parts, electrical circuits, materials, and features of terrain; receives, tallies, cleans, services, stores, and issues supplies and equipment; sorts and packages maps; draws or scribes cultural, topographic, hydrographic, or other features on drawings, transparent overlays, and scribing surfaces for reproduction of maps; inks manuscripts received from map compilers; draws and scribes straight and curved lines with precision and close line weight tolerance, using drafting and scribing instruments; applies knowledge of terrain representations and approved conventional map signs and symbols; considers quality of work required for photolithographic reproduction in developing maps; traces, draws or scribes color separation line drawings of multicolored maps; prepares type lists and stickup names, overlays and other marginal information for map sheets; applies opaque or transparent stickup to complete map for reproduction; prepares grid drawings for tint guides and screening; prepares grid drawings for mosaics and topographic maps; employs meter bar to measure distances accurately to 0.005 inch; utilizes stereoscope and reads aerial photographs and military maps; cleans and adjusts drafting and scribing instruments.
