The diver supervises or performs underwater reconnaissance, demolition, repair, and salvage.
Performs as a qualified Master Diver for lightweight diving teams; supervises diving operations for dives deeper than 100 feet salt water; supervises recompression therapy for diving injuries and coordinates medical support; prepares detailed plans and reports for complex diving operations; supervises use, training, and safety during demolitions missions; assists the team leader during planning, scheduling, and execution of diving missions; performs as a qualified Master Diver for the control and support diving detachments and responsible for the command and control of assigned lightweight diving teams; ensures all diving operations are conducted safely; supervises deep sea diving missions and dives conducted deeper than 100 feet salt water; formulates demolition plan for operational and training missions; assists the commander in planning, scheduling and executing training and operational missions; provides expertise to staff planners and diving teams; writes and develops doctrinal, regulatory, training, and safety material related to the accomplishment of diving missions.
The general engineering supervisor supervises general engineering activities related to all construction and utility operations; assist engineering officer in construction planning, scheduling, and material estimating; assists in the preparation of operation orders, standing operating procedures, and contingency plans; provides staff supervision and principal noncommissioned officer direction to units engaged in performing general engineering missions; inspects construction and training activities; supervises performance of combat engineering missions; provides advice and makes recommendations to the commander and staff on all matters pertaining to enlisted soldiers and their families; accompanies the commander on inspections, visits and ceremonies; assists in inspection of command activities, facilities and personnel as prescribed by the commander; ensures adherence to command policies; holds First Sergeants' or Sergeants' Major call to announce information and instruction; ensures that newly assigned enlisted personnel are instructed in military courtesy, customs of the service and command regulations or policies; responsible for monitoring training or conducts training of enlisted soldiers; assesses training at all levels and provides feedback to appropriate commanders and leaders; provides counsel and guidance to NCOs and other enlisted soldiers of the command; responsible for and provides guidance on Non-Commissioned Officer Education System (NCOES) and Non-Commissioned Officer Development Program (NCODP); inspects duties performed by subordinate NCOs; notes discrepancies and initiates appropriate corrective action; assists in reception of visitors to the command; serves as president or member of command promotion board or removal board for NCOs, as authorized by regulations; sits as chairperson or member of a command's "Military Member of the Quarter/Year" competition for enlisted soldiers or NCOs, as directed by local regulations; responsible for quality, control and training of noncommissioned officer evaluation reports (NCOER) while ensuring timely submissions; reviews evaluation reports to determine compliance with policies and procedures and recommends corrective actions on deficiencies to commanders, other leaders and rating officials; performs other duties prescribed by the commander; assists in the professional development of junior and company grade officer.
Performs underwater work as directed from topside supervisor or lead diver; operates power support equipment, emplaces demolitions and performs as secondary air systems operator during diving and recompression chamber operations; performs as lead diver during underwater work; prepares patching materials and pumps for salvage operations; prepares explosives for placement; prepares rigging and lifting devices for salvage of submerged objects; assists diving supervisor in preparing equipment for diving operations; performs as primary operator on air systems and underwater support equipment during diving and recompression chamber operations; performs as senior diver and supervises diving operations; directs preparation and operation of diving equipment and water craft support platforms; supervises calculation, training, and use of explosives; supervises use of underwater hydraulic and electric power equipment and other special underwater tools; supervises recompression chamber and life support equipment during diving and emergency operations.
