Supervises or performs direct and general support maintenance on the CHAPARRAL and REDEYE missile systems and associated equipment.
Supervises and coordinates direct and general support (DS/GS) level maintenance of CHAPARRAL and REDEYE missile systems, VULCAN weapon system electronics, system associated trainers and test equipment, and power generation equipment; supervises calibration of system associated electronic equipment; serves as section chief or platoon sergeant of a detachment, platoon, company or comparable organization performing missile and weapon system support maintenance; assists in the development of, and supervises quality control program; the missile systems maintenance chief supervises, plans and coordinates overall maintenance of the AVENGER, ATACMS, BFVS, CHAPARRAL, DRAGON, HAWK, LCSS, MLRS, TOW, and VULCAN weapon systems and associated subsystems; supervises, inspects and evaluates activities of subordinate units or sections engaged in missile systems maintenance and associated supply activities; serves as missile maintenance control sergeant in maintenance control or operations element of a company, detachment, or comparable organization engaged in missile maintenance; assists in development and supervises quality assurance and quality control programs; serves as the senior NCO in logistical support activities and material acquisition process to include senior career management NCO or senior career advisor; serves as chief advisor to a reserve component and foreign military units and as chief instructor in major service schools.
Inspects, tests and adjusts components to specific tolerances; determines shortcomings and malfunctions in electronic, electrical and cryogenic assemblies, subassemblies, modules, and circuit elements using system associated test equipment; repairs or removes and replaces defective components and parts; determines serviceability and disposition of system assemblies, subassemblies and parts; performs quality control measures; performs maintenance adjustments on test equipment; completes maintenance and supply forms and reports; provides technical assistance to supported units; responsible for installing equipment modifications; establishes workload and repair priorities; recommends procedures for receipt, storage, inspection, testing and repair of assemblies and subassemblies; supervises inspection and maintenance teams; organizes and conducts on the job training (OJT) programs; demonstrates proper maintenance and troubleshooting techniques; determines faulty works practices; implements quality control measures; performs as maintenance Quality Assurance and Quality Control (QA/QC) inspector; performs initial, in-process, and final inspection of systems assemblies and subassemblies; establishes and maintains maintenance records and reports.
The senior electronic maintenance chief plans and directs electronic maintenance operations at all levels of command and echelons of the Army; performs electronic maintenance staff functions; provides technical advice to commanders and staff concerning Army electronic maintenance and electronic logistic support matters; writes directives, policies and procedures which establishes Army electronic maintenance requirements; serves as senior staff noncommissioned officer (NCO) in electronic maintenance school staff.
