Supervises personnel engaged in radio and television technical operations to include production activities and equipment operation and maintenance.

Supervises radio and television technical operations and production support personnel in radio and TV broadcast equipment operations, and maintenance, studio operations, mobile van and remote site operations, and TV microwave and transmission systems operations; plans, directs, and participates in surveys for site locations of radio and TV stations, rebroadcasting, distribution, or relay systems; plans manpower and equipment requirements to support current and proposed radio and TV production and maintenance facilities; establishes: performance standards for radio and TV productions and maintenance; plans, directs, and conducts preproduction radio and TV conferences with proponent, agency, staff elements, and technical advisory personnel; the TV/radio broadcast operations chief (84T40); provides TV production advice concerning equipment, narration, scripting, and logistical requirements; assists in preparation of specifications for purchase of new equipment and software for TV/radio broadcast operations; interprets and enforces directives governing radio and TV operations and equipment maintenance; reviews, consolidates, and prepares technical and administrative reports on radio and TV operations and maintenance activities; performs the principal NCO duties associated with first sergeant SQI M; supervises, coordinates and technically assists in the operation of audio-visual activities; assists command and staff officers in continuous appraisal of audio-visual operations and training situations; makes notes of observed discrepancies and initiates appropriate corrective action; assists in planning, utilization, operation, and maintenance support of audio-visual and broadcasting operations; administration and management; determines requirements, assigns duties, and coordinates activities of audio-visual personnel; determines team assignments and structure of teams, based on mission requirements; recommends changes in location, quantities, or types of audio-visual personnel according to military needs; exercises administrative control, and performs liaison between staff, maintenance, and operating personnel to improve effectiveness of audio-visual operation; prepares administrative and technical reports relative to audio-visual and broad casting operations.

Performs the principal NCO duties associated with first sergeant SQI M; supervises, coordinates and technically assists in the operation of audio-visual activities; assists command and staff officers in continuous appraisal of audio-visual operations and training situations; makes notes of observed discrepancies and initiates appropriate corrective action; assists in planning, utilization, operation, and maintenance support of audio-visual and broadcasting operations; administration and management; determines requirements, assigns duties, and coordinates activities of audio-visual personnel; determines team assignments and structure of teams, based on mission requirements; recommends changes in location, quantities, or types of audio-visual personnel according to military needs; exercises administrative control, and performs liaison between staff, maintenance, and operating personnel to improve effectiveness of audio-visual operation; prepares administrative and technical reports relative to audio-visual and broad casting operations; provides advice and makes recommendations to the commander and staff on all matters pertaining to enlisted personnel and their families; accompanies the commander on inspections and visits and at ceremonies; assists in inspection of command activities facilities and personnel as prescribed by the commander; holds first sergeants' or sergeants' major call to announce information and instructions; insures that newly assigned enlisted personnel are instructed in military courtesy, customs of the service, and command regulations or policies; provides counsel and guidance to NCOs and other enlisted personnel of the command; inspects duties performed by subordinate NCOs; notes discrepancies and initiates appropriate corrective action; assists in reception of visitors to the command; sits as president or member of command promotion board for NCOs, as authorized by regulations; performs other duties prescribed by the commander.
