Wire chiefs supervise the installation, operation, and maintenance of field wire systems or outside plant facilities of a base telephone system.
Typical duties are preparation of circuit diagrams, line route maps, work schedules, switchboard programming, and instruction of wire personnel in wire systems techniques and telephone equipment employment.
