Supervises or performs direct support and general support maintenance on automatic data processing equipment.

Inspects, tests, diagnoses, corrects failures, and performs direct and general support maintenance on automatic data processing equipment; makes regular inspections of all equipment and adjusts and repairs machines to insure proper operations; determines common causes of computer and associated equipment malfunction; locates malfunctions by inspection of key electrical and mechanical components, consultation with operators, study of circuit diagrams and control panel wiring, and check of processed cards and tapes; interprets circuit diagrams, schematic diagrams, and technical literature on the function and maintenance of computers and associated equipment; test-operates equipment to determine nature, location and extent of trouble; disassembles malfunctioning equipment and replaces faulty components; periodically checks operation of computer by special diagnostic test programs and special test equipment; applies results from standard and specialized tools and test equipment; computes voltage, amperage, and resistance factors by simple algebraic formulas; adjusts and repairs relays, solenoids, drive motors, magnetic clutches, automatic tensioning equipment and other electromechanical components associated with ADP equipment; cleans, oils and lubricates equipment; performs minor modifications in accordance with modification work orders; participates in making major modifications and repairs under supervision; performs organizational maintenance on tools and test equipment; prepares and keeps maintenance records.

Must be able to perform the duties of ADPS Repairman (34D20); supervises direct support and general support maintenance on automatic data processing equipment; oversees periodic and emergency maintenance of ADP equipment; supervises activities of all subordinate ADP maintenance personnel; observes and corrects faulty operating and maintenance procedures; supervises ADP maintenance activities in an independent detachment or team supporting ADP center; provides technical guidance to personnel performing maintenance on ADP equipment; diagnoses and evaluates malfunctions to determine extent of malfunction, length of time, tools and parts required to perform repair; determines limitations and capabilities of maintenance personnel and detachment equipment; supervises modification of equipment and provides on-the-job training in maintenance of modified equipment.

Must be able to perform the duties at grade E-7 in any one of the MOS in CMF 74; serves as principal NCO in data processing activity; supervises systems analysis, programming, machine operations, and related activities; plans, organizes and conducts technical inspections; prepares reports and recommendations for improved methods and procedures; supervises preparation of studies, reports and records relating to systems analysis, programming, machine operations, and other data processing fields; coordinates and integrates operation of electrical input and output equipment with operation of electronic equipment; prepares operating schedule; controls workflow, assigns projects, establishes priorities and maintains follow-up; instructs in procedures and in unusual and complex cases; establishes production controls and standards; determines personnel, equipment and supplies required; provides liaison with activities supported or supporting data processing systems activities; prepares instructions and interprets data processing reports and programs; must be able to perform the duties of at least one MOS at skill level "5"; advises commander and staff on matters pertinent to troop welfare and morale in terms of assignment, reassignment, utilization, promotion, privileges, discipline, training, operations, and logistics; accompanies commander on inspections, visits, and at ceremonies; assists in inspection of command activities, facilities, and personnel as prescribed by commander; holds first sergeants' or sergeants' major call to disseminate information and instruction; insures that newly assigned enlisted personnel are instructed in military courtesy, customs of the service, and in command regulations or policies; provides counsel and guidance to noncommissioned officers and other enlisted personnel of the command; inspects duties performed by subordinate noncommissioned officers; makes notes of observed discrepancies and initiates appropriate corrective action in name of commander; assists in reception of visitors to the command; sits as member of command promotion board for senior noncommissioned officers, where authorized by pertinent regulations; performs those additional duties prescribed by the commander.
