Supervises & performs unit maintenance and recovery of all self-propelled field artillery cannon weapon systems.

Perform duties in preceding skill levels, supervises lower grade soldiers and provide technical guidance to the soldiers in the accomplishment of their duties; supervise the performance of battlefield damage assessment and repair (BDAR); direct recovery operations; the mechanical maintenance supervisor supervises, plans, coordinates, and directs the unit, direct support and general support (DS/GS) maintenance of all mechanical equipment; (1) Serving as principal maintenance or operations NCO in maintenance battalion or higher level organization; (2) Supervising personnel performing the duties of (a) Machinist (44E4O); (b) Armament/fire control maintenance supervisor (45Z4O); (c) Construction equipment repairer (62B4O); (d) Track vehicle repairer (63H4O).

Troubleshoots and performs unit maintenance on the automotive systems and components of M109/M107/M110 self-propelled howitzers, M548, M578, M88/A1, and the 113 family of vehicles; maintains diesel power plants/packs, compression ignition engine fuel systems, compression ignition air induction systems, track vehicle exhaust systems, air cooling systems, vehicle liquid cooling systems, vehicle starting systems, vehicle charging systems, track hull electrical systems, automatic transmission assemblies crossdrive transmission assemblies, auxiliary drive assemblies, tract vehicle suspension systems, lockout suspension systems, mechanical hydraulic steering systems, track vehicle hydraulic systems, auxiliary power units, fire extinguisher, suppression systems, and gas particulate filter systems; troubleshoots, isolates, and identifies causes of system or component malfunction; inspects electrical wiring and hydraulic lines; perform self-propelled field artillery turret mechanic (MOS 45D) duties, supervises lower grade soldiers and provides technical guidance to the soldiers in the accomplishment of their duties; performs battlefield damage assessment and repair (BDAR) of track vehicle armament/automotive systems; inspects and troubleshoots automotive/armament systems of M109 series howitzer, M110 series Howitzer, and M992; inspects and troubleshoots automotive systems of M113 series vehicles, M578 recovery vehicle, and M88A1 recovery vehicle.

The mechanical maintenance supervisor supervises, plans, coordinates, and directs the unit, direct support and general support (DS/GS) maintenance of all mechanical equipment; (1) Serving as principal maintenance or operations NCO in maintenance battalion or higher level organization; (2) Supervising personnel performing the duties of (a) Machinist (44E4O); (b) Armament/fire control maintenance supervisor (45Z4O); (c) Construction equipment repairer (62B4O); (d) Track vehicle repairer (63H4O); provides advice and makes recommendations to the commander and staff on all matters pertaining to enlisted soldiers and their families; accompanies the commander on inspections, visits and ceremonies; assists in inspection of command activities, facilities and personnel as prescribed by the commander; ensures adherence to command policies; holds First Sergeants' or Sergeants' Major call to announce information and instruction; ensures that newly assigned enlisted personnel are instructed in military courtesy, customs of the service and command regulations or policies; responsible for monitoring training or conducts training of enlisted soldiers; assesses training at all levels and provides feedback to appropriate commanders and leaders; provides counsel and guidance to NCOs and other enlisted soldiers of the command; responsible for and provides guidance on Non-Commissioned Officer Education System (NCOES) and Non-Commissioned Officer Development Program (NCODP); inspects duties performed by subordinate NCOs; notes discrepancies and initiates appropriate corrective action; assists in reception of visitors to the command; serves as president or member of command promotion board or removal board for NCOs, as authorized by regulations; sits as chairperson or member of a command's Military Member of the Quarter/Year competition for enlisted soldiers or NCOs, as directed by local regulations; responsible for quality, control and training of noncommissioned officer evaluation reports (NCOER) while ensuring timely submissions; reviews evaluation reports to determine compliance with policies and procedures and recommends corrective actions on deficiencies to commanders, other leaders and rating officials; performs other duties prescribed by the commander; assists in the professional development of junior and company grade officer.
