Performs or supervises intermediate maintenance on AN/MPQ-49 FAAR system.
Performs intermediate level maintenance on radar, TADDS, and IFF electronic assemblies and associated system-peculiar test equipment to include unit maintenance test set (OMTS) and inter-mediate maintenance test set (SMTS); provides technical guidance to lower grade personnel; supervises and performs duties shown in preceding levels of skill.
Must be able to perform duties of CHAPARRAL/REDEYE repairer (27G30), VULCAN repairer (27F30), or FARR repairer (27N30); supervises intermediate maintenance activities involving the CHAPARRAL/REDEYE repairers (27G), VULCAN repairers (27F), and FARR repairers (27N); provides general supervision of PERSHING missile system maintenance activities.
The ballistic/land combat/light air defense systems maintenance chief supervises and coordinates overall maintenance of the following weapons systems; Pershing; Tow; Dragon; LCSS; Lance; MLRS; CHAPARRAL; Redeye; Vulcan; FARR; Roland; provides advice and makes recommendations to the commander and staff on all matters pertaining to enlisted personnel and their families; accompanies the commander on inspections and visits and at ceremonies; assists in inspection of command activities facilities and personnel as prescribed by the commander; holds First Sergeants' or Sergeants' Major call to announce information and instructions; insures that newly assigned enlisted personnel are instructed in military courtesy, customs of the service, and command regulations or policies; provides counsel and guidance to NCOs and other enlisted personnel of the command; inspects duties performed by subordinate NCOs; notes discrepancies and initiates appropriate corrective action; assists in reception of visitors to the command; sits as president or member of command promotion board for NCOs, as authorized by regulations; performs other duties prescribed by the commander.
