Perform maintenance and repair of general purpose Test, Measurement, and Diagnostic Equipment.
As the senior NCO on an Area TMDE Support Team (ATST), supervises, manages, and coordinates TMDE calibration and repair support, field and sustainment level maintenance for all supported organizations; maintains hand receipt for ATST; develops and implements internal and external standard operating procedures related to safety, shop operation, and customer support; establishes priorities and distributes workload to the team; develops and initiates ATST support agreements on all matters concerning logistical support and Soldier readiness to include health, welfare, morale, and UCMJ actions; responsible for ensuring that re-certification of team standards is accomplished by the Area Calibration Laboratory; develops QA/QC procedures and directs the ATST QA/QC program; oversees maintenance records and provides reports to higher headquarters; ensures all procedures and records pertaining to radiation safety and the calibration program are implemented and maintained in accordance with US code, Federal and Army regulations; coordinates with the DISCOM/COSCOM for split based operations; advises and coordinates with commanders at all levels, Corps and below, on the execution of the TMDE maintenance program; provide statistical analysis and reports to commanders, Corps and below, to show trends requiring command level decision; as the senior QA/QC technical inspector on a TMDE Operations Team, ensure Corps and division ATST's implement QA/QC policies and procedures; manages and leads companies and major electronic maintenance, training, and logistic activities; responsible for all aspects of maintenance and integration operations; determines training, maintenance, and repair priorities based on personnel, equipment, supply resources, and unit requirements; when assigned to staff positions, prepares technical studies, special reports, correspondence, and records pertaining to maintenance and integration operations; assists in planning, establishing and maintaining the logistical support infrastructure of electronic systems and equipment during design, development, deployment and sustainment; advise senior leaders on maintenance concepts, requirements and system life-cycle policies and procedures; inspects assigned electronic maintenance activities for compliance with repair priorities, quality control, and shop practices; the senior electronic maintenance chief plans and directs electronic maintenance operations at all levels of command and echelons of the Army; performs electronic maintenance staff functions; provides technical advice to commanders and staff concerning Army electronic maintenance and electronic logistic support matters; writes directives, policies and procedures which establishes Army electronic maintenance requirements; serves as senior staff noncommissioned officer in electronic maintenance school staff.
The senior electronic maintenance chief plans and directs electronic maintenance operations at all levels of command and echelons of the Army; performs electronic maintenance staff functions; provides technical advice to commanders and staff concerning Army electronic maintenance and electronic logistic support matters; writes directives, policies and procedures which establish Army electronic maintenance requirements; serves as Senior Staff Noncommissioned Officer (NCO) in electronic maintenance school staff; provides advice and makes recommendations to the commander and staff on all matters pertaining to enlisted soldiers and their families; accompanies the commander on inspections, visits and ceremonies; assists in inspection of command activities, facilities and personnel as prescribed by the commander; ensures adherence to command policies; holds First Sergeants' or Sergeants' Major call to announce information and instruction; ensures that newly assigned enlisted personnel are instructed in military courtesy, customs of the service and command regulations or policies; responsible for monitoring training or conducts training of enlisted soldiers; assesses training at all levels and provides feedback to appropriate commanders and leaders; provides counsel and guidance to NCOs and other enlisted soldiers of the command; responsible for and provides guidance on Non-Commissioned Officer Education System (NCOES) and Non-Commissioned Officer Development Program (NCODP); inspects duties performed by subordinate NCOs; notes discrepancies and initiates appropriate corrective action; assists in reception of visitors to the command; serves as president or member of command promotion board or removal board for NCOs, as authorized by regulations; sits as chairperson or member of a command's Military Member of the Quarter/Year competition for enlisted soldiers or NCOs, as directed by local regulations; responsible for quality, control and training of noncommissioned officer evaluation reports (NCOER) while ensuring timely submissions; reviews evaluation reports to determine compliance with policies and procedures and recommends corrective actions on deficiencies to commanders, other leaders and rating officials; performs other duties prescribed by the commander; assists in the professional development of junior and company grade officer.
Operates and performs calibration by alignment and adjustment of electronic and mechanical components by comparing measurements of the unit under test to a known standard traceable to National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST); repairs general purpose and selected special purpose TMDE to component level by removing and replacing defective components; perform field and sustainment level maintenance on calibration standards and calibration accessories; operates and performs PMCS on vehicles and generators; performs special regulatory requirements associated with the calibration, maintenance and repair of Radiation Detecting, Indicating and Computing (RADIAC) equipment; performs cross checks of calibration standards through inter-comparison of team calibration standards; perform production control procedures; receive, schedules and tracks equipment turned in for calibration or repair; maintains maintenance records, files and provides reports to supported units; supervises and establishes workload priorities for elements of an Area TMDE Support Team (ATST) during split-based mode of operation; coordinates with supported units for turn in and pick up of TMDE; when assigned to an ATST performs duties as quality assurance, quality control (QA/QC) inspector and implement quality control procedures; recommend procedures for receipt, storage, inspection, testing, and repair of items; organizes and conducts on the job training (OJT) programs; demonstrate proper maintenance and troubleshooting techniques; determine faulty work practices; prepares maintenance reports and develops load plans; coordinates the movement of ATST radioactive source and supervises the calibration and repair support of RADIAC equipment; acts as the local radiation protection officer and performs custodial duties for the unit's radioactive calibration source.
