Performs and supervises intermediate maintenance on fire control instruments and related equipment.
Performs maintenance in intermediate maintenance units on fire control instruments and related equipment including; binoculars; aiming circles; telescopes; rangefinders; mechanical and electrical ballistic computers; output devices mounted in combat vehicles; diagnoses and troubleshoots malfunctions in fire control instruments and related equipment at the intermediate maintenance level; supervises fire control instrument support maintenance activities.
Supervises armament/fire control maintenance in intermediate or depot maintenance activity; understands test and inspection procedures that apply to armament/fire control maintenance; plans and organizes work area layout to gain maximum efficiency and utilization of time tools, equipment, and personnel; schedules, assigns, and coordinates work according to the availability and capabilities of personnel and equipment; estimates time required for specific maintenance efforts; determines appropriate maintenance method of repair or fabrication; reads, understands, and applies information contained in intermediate maintenance technical manuals and complex schematic diagrams; applies production control and quality control principles and procedures to maintenance operations; performs maintenance-related administrative functions; supervises the preparation of records, reports, and training of subordinate personnel; establishes and controls a file of pertinent maintenance technical publications; supervise planning for and layout of mechanical maintenance shops and facilities; supervise application of production and quality control, quality assurance, and principles to support maintenance operations; supervise or prepare technical studies, evaluations, special reports, correspondence, and records pertaining to support maintenance operations, training, and related operations; evaluate work performance of lower skill personnel, determine training requirements and recommend corrective actions; assist in preparation of support maintenance operation plans, policies, and procedures; perform first sergeant duties associated with SQI M.
Supervise planning for and layout of mechanical maintenance shops and facilities; supervise application of production and quality control, quality assurance, and principles to support maintenance operations; supervise or prepare technical studies, evaluations, special reports, correspondence, and records pertaining to support maintenance operations, training, and related operations; evaluate work performance of lower skill personnel, determine training requirements and recommend corrective actions; assist in preparation of support maintenance operation plans, policies, and procedures; perform first sergeant duties associated with SQI M; provides advice and makes recommendations to the commander and staff on all matters pertaining to enlisted personnel and their families; accompanies the commander on inspections and visits and at ceremonies; assists in inspection of command activities facilities and personnel as prescribed by the commander; holds first sergeants' or sergeants' major call to announce information and instructions; insures that newly assigned enlisted personnel are instructed in military courtesy, customs of the service, and command regulations or policies; provides counsel and guidance to NCOs and other enlisted personnel of the command; inspects duties performed by subordinate NCOs; notes discrepancies and initiates appropriate corrective action; assists in reception of visitors to the command; sits as president or member of command promotion board for NCOs, as authorized by regulations; performs other duties prescribed by the commander.
