Officer technician in the air antisubmarine warfare. They assist in the organization, supervision, and direction of tactical support center operations, brief and debrief operational flight crews; evaluate and determine in-flight operational efficiency of sensor systems components and ASW sensor operators; supervise preflight, in-flight, and post-flight inspection of ASW equipment, collection, preparation, and transmission of data to appropriate analysis agencies; devise and implement operational planning requirements for fleet staffs. They employ a broad knowledge of the characteristics and employment of U.S. and foreign submarines, warships, small craft, and merchant ships and principles of radar magnetic detection, electronic countermeasures, and underwater acoustics. A temporary officer of the Regular Navy whose permanent status is enlisted.
